Back to the deep south: 2016 Oceania Championships

As the competitive season has kicked up another notch, I will keep this brief as there is much to do on the bike…

Heading down south to what was my second home was exciting and a little weird. I hadn’t been down back to Invercargill in the last two years. It was so good to see familiar faces and catch up with a few friends that still reside there.

In short, I was happy with my performances and where I am at. It will be an exciting time for the next five months. I had ‘solid’ (according to coaches) races and the competition served as a really good benchmark against the Australians (they are former World Champions!) and future races.

RESULTS:
2nd Team sprint
3rd 500mTT
7th Match sprint (with a [small] PB in the flying 200m qualifying)

I was disappointed that the NZ team decided to pull me out of the Keirin (one of my better events) due to safety reasons as it can be a risky race. However, this just verified, to me, that the focus for us is the team sprint. It is good to know they are looking out for me, and the better of the team.

I have been on TV too, though more in the background as my team mate (Tarsh) is the better looking one so she gets most of the camera time ;-0

Next competition that I hope to get named in is the first World Cup in Cali, Colombia, in which we leave 22nd October.
